Mumbai Blasts on Google Maps

I have created a Google Maps Mashup of Mumbai Bomb Blasts. Check it out at: mibazaar (Miike Pegg of Google Maps Mania makes a mention of this Mashup in his blog)

I put this together by inputting the bomb blast locations into a MySQL Database and then exporting it in XML format, to Javascript.

Since I grew up in Mumbai, I was kind of familiar with where the railway stations were. So I used a mapping tool http://www.mibazaar.com/testlatlng.html to get Latitude/Longitude. In conjunction with this I referenced wiki on Mumbai Railway Stations, since I could not recollect where certain railway stations were heading North on Suburban Western Railway (It’s been years since I left Bombay/Mumbai).

Google Maps + Human Rights Watch Group RSS Feeds

Couple of months back I had created a Google Maps Mashup of RSS Feeds from New York Times and RSS Feeds from Human Rights Watch Group.

Couple of days back I got a call from the folks at Human Rights Watch Group. They were looking for suggestions from Geo Developers as to what else can they do to make their data more easily accessible so that Developers can tap into their data and create mashups.
They were looking for suggestions as to kind of RSS Feeds or API’s developers would be interested in. If you have any suggestions or ideas do post a comment and I will pass it along.
